Maybe I Just Need to Ask?

I have a confession. I had lost a little steam with writing. Not sure why. Maybe because the book didn’t fly off shelves like I thought it might. Maybe because I even had a hard time getting reviews on Amazon. Or maybe because life is just so plain busy. And even more now with the world changing in the presence of the Coronavirus.

And then one thing can change everything.

I was doing my usual social media surfing on LinkedIN and noticed one of my distant colleagues had posted about a book they enjoyed. I decided, “what the heck? Let me see if she would be interested in a copy?” I carefully crafted the message noting her love of passion around people and culture and how it related to my book.

To my surprise, she wrote me back right away and gave me her address. She remarked, “I love supporting emerging writers in our space!” I was very grateful and she continued by saying, “Keep going!”

So true. I have come so far with writing and I never expected it would be easy or automatic. One little act of kindness can make all the difference. I do need to keep going but moreover, I thought, “Maybe I just need to ask?”
